During the fasting month, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is undergoing resurfacing work. The resurfacing is a requirement of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme's homologation requirements for 2023. (FIM).

According to a SIC spokesperson, the cost of resurfacing is estimated to be RM10 million. The resurfaced track areas are from turn 7 to turn 12, also known as the "South" section of SIC.

With SIC nearly fully utilised since the removal of MCO restrictions last year, certain areas of the track were discovered to be uneven and bumpy. The tarmac mix used for resurfacing is sourced locally and applied under the supervision of a consultant.

SIC was last resurfaced in February 2016, with additional remedial work performed following reports of water seepage on the track.
